There is good news for professionals visiting Goa. According to reports, the state government has come up with the concept of coworking spaces on the beaches, which will allow professionals to work while enjoying the scenic coastline.
The Goa government is ready to promote the “culture of #WorkationGoa” by setting up co-working spaces on the beaches.
Referring to this, State Minister for Tourism and Information and Technology (IT), Rohan Khaunte, said that in the initial phase, Morjim and Miramar beaches in North Goa and the beach of Benaulim in South Goa have been selected to set up such coworking spaces. The Minister added that anyone can work, enjoy surfing on the beach and come back, shower and get back to work through these coworking spaces on the beaches.
He added that since many companies offer their employees the freedom to work from home, they want working professionals to come here and work from these coworking spaces, and also help them in the IT ecosystem.
“We need spaces to develop Goa like the T-Hub. We have already started advertising to look for spaces to create coworking spots. Today we are ready with the database,” the minister said. Regarding the provision of skills to the new workforce and upgrading the skills of the existing workforce, he added that the state government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU ) with the Telangana Academy for Skills and Knowledge (TASK) for this purpose.
He further informed that the tourism department is planning to set up model beach huts, which will be equipped with all modern facilities including Wi-Fi for guests. He added that these shacks would be installed at the beaches of Colva, Baina and Benaulim in South Goa and in the Calangute-Baga belt in North Goa.
He also clarified that the huts will have a “plug and play” facility, in which visitors will only be required to connect to sewers and other infrastructure, which would be provided by the government.
